Up for sale is this monster rare original 1966 GERMAN pressing of Monks' "Black Monk Time". This LP is seriously rare and extremely hard to find. Released only in Germany on Polydor International Records.

The vinyl looks very nice with with some light hairlines. NO deep scratches at all. The LP sounds fantastic! Great sound with little crackle, mostly noticeable between songs. Just wild killer 60's garage punk rock!

The fully laminated cover has some light edge wear and light ring wear. See my pictures for details.

From the book Endless Trip:
The tale of how five GIs stationed in Germany shaved their heads, donned cowls and created punk rock in 1966 (calling it über-beat) still seems too amazing to be true – but the evidence is all here, on their astounding album, which would almost certainly not have got made in America at the time. Screamed vocals, shrieking feedback, atonal organ and ferocious drumming define their sound, as does the unorthodox use of strummed banjo for rhythm. This really is one of those records that seems to owe no debt to anything else, and is as exciting and distinctive as anything in rock and roll.

No contemporary American band had recorded an album of such personality and vision – The Velvet Underground’s debut was recorded well after Black Monk Time, for example – and even The Beatles had yet to explore such territory (John Lennon would have loved them). All the songs are self-penned, too, something that very few people could boast in 1966. One of the handful of 60s albums that all music fans should hear.
